I loved combining the different stitches to create the unique look of this Moiré Shoulder Bag. I knew I wanted to use the Houndstooth stitch for a purse design, but it needed something to set it apart from similar patterns. I think the bold print created by the ripples does just that.
I actually got the inspiration for this design from this gorgeous satin pillowcase that I saw on Etsy. The shop owner, Kathryn, makes these pillowcases by hand in a wide range of beautiful, eye-catching prints and color combinations. She’s also a very kind person and a pleasure to deal with. ♥ Worsted weight yarn such as Red Heart Soft
• (A) Black – 108 gms / 197 yds
• (B) White – 104 gms / 190 yds
♥ 5.0 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain the gauge
♥ Stitch markers (4)
♥ Yarn needle for weaving in ends
♥ Fabric for lining (optional) – There is an easy tutorial HERE for lining a crochet bag.
Third Loop – On the back of the HDC stitch there is a horizontal strand of yarn just below the back loop that is referred to as the third loop.
